The new Flyers. No consistency. Can't be consistently bad. Can't be consistently good.
2015 Beginning of the Gaudreau/Monahan era. Take out the Canucks in the 1st round (As a Canucks fan, I remember the Flames were dominating the Canucks in Game 3 and 4) Get outclass by the Ducks in 2nd Round.
2016 Miss the playoffs 2016 was a bad year for Canadian teams
2017 They are in the 1st WC and Brian Elliott single handly cost them both games in Calgary and they get swept by the Ducks in 1st Round.
2018 Miss the playoffs
2019 1st seed in the West. Look like championship contenders. Johnny Gaudreau goes missing in the playoffs and they lose in 5 to the Avs in the 1st Round.
2020 COVID shortened year Lose to Dallas in 6 in 1st Round
2021 Canadian Division year Inconsistent af and miss the playoffs
2022 1st in the Pacific. Looks like a championship contender once again. Lose in 5 to the Oilers in 2nd Round after Markstrom forgets how to play goalie.
2023 Markstrom/Vladar can't keep the puck out of the net despite the Flames not allowing that many shots on net. Nick Ritchie in the shootout in the crucial Nashville game. Miss the playoffs.
2024 ?
I bet in 2024, Markstrom returns to Vezina form, Lindholm scores 40 goals again, and the Flames battle Vegas for 1st in the Pacific.
