Considering we've heard on plenty of occasions the rumours of one guy having done exactly that, then it's still a major red flag. Some can make it toxic without even intending to, so I definitely wouldn't risk it on a guy who has that much swirling around him. Worse player or not, I will repeat, it's poor asset management to trade Newhook for a 1 year rental with that kind of red flag, let alone adding a first round pick in a deep draft year. As for Newhook failing to fill the 2C role as a 21 year old in his second year he played there very briefly before injuries struck and then was bounced all around the line up. Something Avs fans were/are critical of Bednar for. He had no stable linemates and never got to play with the two wings he was intended to be between so that's really no argument at all.

Too many here overhype their own players at almost hysterical levels. Newhook being cost controlled isnt something incredibly valuable. Being valuable is actually producing while holding team control not hoping if wishes were horses while holding team control.
