That feels like a lot of quantity without much quality

My brain isn't braining.

I think a Forsberg trade would have to include Jarvis/Necas, which I'm not sure the Canes really want to do.
I also don't think Saros is a fit for Carolina.

That offer doesn't even get you Saros. Only things of vaalue here are Jarvis and the 1st. This is what was reported about Saros a week ago.

[Michael Gallagher] After speaking with a couple different sources, it’s believed it will take a package of at least two first-round picks plus 2-3 blue-chip prospects to even get the conversation started about a Juuse Saros trade.

Canes only ''blue-chip'' prospects are Nikishin and Morrow.

No, he isn't fit unless Tortz decides to sell low.
Nashville doesn't have anything the Hurricanes need that they can't get for a much better value elsewhere

A scoring winger..? The Canes don't need a scoring winger?

That trade package is ridiculous considering how notoriously flukey the goaltending position is

They do but Forsberg is a very inconsistent scoring threat from year to year, his contract is a little too much for my liking, he's injury prone (at least that's how it reads from the number of games he's played in the last few seasons), he would cost a whole lot more than DeBrincat and probably more than Keller

That return for Forsberg and Saros is less inspired than whoever designs CAR's bland jerseys.

He would likely cost the same as Cat, A 1st+ and a blue chip prospect. Cat had a down year but him being younger holds the value close.
Keller has been stellar the past few seasons and is younger, so he'd cost at least two firsts+.

Maybe Carolina isn't interested on spending that amount for Forsberg but it's no doubt he'd be a fit.

I mean your right... except for the defensive metric he looks like he'd be a good fit in Carolina. I can see something along the line of
pick any prospect (not named Morrow or Nikishin), 2023 Carolina's 1st, 2x 2024 2nds being a baseline for a deal

His D metrics weren't so good this year. Nashville had a down year due to us selling plus he was battling an injury. But if you look in prior years he's been great.

I think a Forsberg trade would have to include one of Morrow or Nikishin, which is why I don't think it'd work because the Canes are definitely not interested in moving those pieces.

Exactly... I mean Gunler and Koivunen are good prospects but I just don't see them being enough to get Forsberg. If both sides are willing to agree to a less prestigious prospect but more picks then that might be enough to get a deal done

Are we still talking about Forsberg AND Saros, or just Forsberg here?

this is a pretty blah offer for those two, a lot of quantity, Jarvis the only quality. no need to do it from our perspective though

It is but that's what Barry Trotz is asking. But if a goalie is worth close to that haul it's Saros. Dude is amazing and plays a **** ton of games.

He is but I'm still kind of hesitant to pay that package for a goalie
