I'd want more for John Gibson no matter where he was going, so whether he'd waive for Ottawa is irrelevant since I wouldn't accept that offer. And I think that it's premature to give Jamie Drysdale that contract.

I hope that Pat Verbeek's off-season plan includes signing at least one veteran free agent defenseman, preferably for each side, but especially the right side as our esteemed friend @GiggyWithGibby keeps requesting.
