3 UFA signings to watch

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 15, 2023
Published: Jun. 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Kessel Says he wants to play another year, hawks can afford to overpay him with the intention of flipping him to a contender at the deadline if he plays well. Because it’s a 35 + contract the hawks can offer performance bonuses that will eat into the abundance of cap space this team will have while keeping the AAV down for trade bait. I would give Kessel 1 million in salary with a Bonus structure would include up to 2 million AAV for a GP of 41 and P threshold of 40. Also includes a 10 team limited NTC.

2. Connor Brown Limited severely in games played last season he is a bouncback/Value rebuilding asset. A consistent 30-40 point getter that would be easy to flip at the deadline after getting top line opportunity in chicago.

3. Sean Monahan - Similarly limited in GP and coming off a semi

He said he’s not going out and chasing for a goalie and that he is comfortable with that duo yes… but this trade is not in conflict with that idea.

Could be a negotiating ploy. Or, he could still get Murray in a deal something along these lines - and promptly buy him out. PRESTO, CHANGO... Mrazek and Soderblom are still our goalie tandem, but now the Hawks have an additional, 2023 first-round selection. Happiness!

I don’t know that I would buy into the idea that Davidson would try to negotiate through the media. I think he probably would be open to moving back into the first and with taking on Murray but only for the right prices. I don’t think he will chase treveling down with this trade idea because it’s not his problem to deal with.
