Description
Of course, this is all a bit out there.

Some of this I can see happening but by no means all of this. The D is weaker, not ideal, but we know the offense is a priority now. Some will hate the trade of G. I get it, but something has to give. I think we can sign Lindholm to an extension, which makes this trade well worth it.

Avs really shouldn't move both Toews & Girard. Takes their position of greatest strength and makes it a weakness.

Unless Lindholm wants out and Calgary decides to do a mini firesale, they probably won't make a trade for a defenseman, they are stacked there. I think Calgary thinks it still is in a contention window (and i tend to agree), and with a new coach & GM, I bet they attempt it again and move players at the TDL if it doesn't work.

Can't move both of Toews & Girard. Plus the Leafs would have to add the 1st in that deal, wingers without term have super low value and Toews is a top 10 dman in the NHL

The Girard trade I'm fine with though I can't see Calgary doing it. It's the other trade I have issues with. In no way are the Avs doing that.

Nylander isn't a top-10 winger? Both on an expiring contract, the Avs first goes to AZ for salary retention, there might be prospects and late-rounders involved, but this trade does make sense for both teams. I hate losing Toews for sure, but G is expendable due to the recent signing of Malinski and with Behrnes in the pipeline. His value is at the highest right now and we need to take advantage of that now.

They lost Gaudreau for nothing, do you think they'll allow that to happen with Lindholm? Maybe. As for their D, they are not stacked, that is their main weakness at the moment. Avs need size on the backend and Soucy provides that with decent defense at a decent price.

Of course they won't let him walk but they're going to get an offer that fits better for what they need.

Soucy is a great replacement for either Toews or Girard. Avs don't move both.

And agree to disagree on Calgary's D. I like it a lot and I expect almost no changes to it, esp. on the left side.

neither team is going to make this work, but for some reason, it will never end on ACGM. It's a bad trade for both teams
