Gudas AFP projection is $10m/3 years. Name a single goalie trade in the cap era that got back more than 2 1st round picks and a serviceable backup goalie. Best trade value in the cap era is Corey Schneider for a single 9th overall pick. If Hellebuyck says he'll only sign at select teams, the return will be less.

Don't think it's a good idea to give away one 1st for a goalie, much less two. And don't think we can go into another season with Carter as 3C.

There will not be a better offer for Hellebuyck than what OP said, even with an extension.

It is a very large overpay
