So the leafs can move Murray without giving up a 1st so add anything you want coming back but it isn't good asset management from them. Conners the one guy they probably don't move and if they do it's not for futures they're a playoff team and want to stay that way.

The Jets may have been a playoff team last year but are they contenders?

Yeah but they're a small market team and you don't just dismantle a playoff team. Plus I mean they probably have to move scheifele, helly and wheeler so it's even more unlikely they move him.

I don't know why the Jets are shopping Connor but the value here is certainly interesting if that were the plan. It's like asking you what you want for Dylan Larkin though, I just don't think there's a deal to be made. Actually, Larkin is the main piece I would want for Connor. We both know that trade isn't happening though

Dude they literally did the same thing last year. And the value is just about right. It's the value of the 37th overall which tracks with what LA just paid to move 6 million over 2 years. His actual salary is over six for one.

LA moved an overpaid buried goalie, a 3rd pair dman retained and a prospect so idk how that's equal to 37th overall.

They gave up the equivalent of two 2nds to dump 6 million over two years. I can't make it any clearer than that. Murray cannot stay healthy, and his real salary is 6 million this year. Also, like I said, they made a similar trade last year.

I guess my point is if you’re not competing for a cup, and your window appears to be closing, why not go full rebuild and get as many picks and prospects as possible? I see what you’re saying about Larkin but I think the circumstances are different. Detroit is on its way up, Winnipeg looks like they’re on they way down. Trading a top guy who is under contract for picks doesn’t make sense for Detroit given the current stage of the rebuild(unless it’s an offer too good to pass up; see Hronek trade). The Jets window looks like it’s closing and adding those picks could jumpstart a rebuild rather than spending 5 years in Ken Holland’s hockey purgatory. Just a thought.

The Jets can trade him in a couple years if he won't resign. There's no reason to become Arizona

I mean I don't get the logic of dismantling a playoff team but who knows what they envision there. Winnipeg is a lot closer than we are right now so I think it's more they move the older pieces and see how it looks after that. Being a small market and not exactly a prime destination for players I just see them looking for different things than futures and 6 or 7 years of being irrelevant.

You’re both probably right, but the Jets were the last team in in the West. If they trade PLD and Helly want out, and Connor has said he doesn’t want to be a part of a rebuild. I just see the Jets as a team trending downwards, which sucks because I wanted to see them win a Cup. But unless they make major moves to improve the team(which I’m not sure is possible given their cap and roster structure) I don’t see them surpassing the likes of Vegas, Colorado, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Edmonton (not to mention teams like Seattle, Nashville, St. Louis, and Calgary all around the same level and many with better cap situations to make moves). I hope I’m wrong since I actually like Winnipeg, but I don’t see them as legitimate contenders and I think Detroit’s immediate future is brighter.
