I figured Ken Holland seems stressed so I thought I would trade away all of the picks to give him draft night off.
- Ducks need a RHD, Ceci is cheap, can have him play first line minutes before the franchise spirals. He will be a good mentor to the young players.
- Rosen did great last year and will be able to fill in for Broberg and Kulak. He is a cheap bottom line option, oilers are giving up a younger D man and a late pick to make this fair.
- Yams goes to Ottawa where his play style matches well with the young team. With Brady and Stu, he will hopefully be hurt less. He will be a great scrappy young player. He should resign for cheaper at the end of the season. Him and the pick bring back a local prospect who needs a little more development before the pros.
- Debrusk has requested a trade twice. He took the request back, but with the Bruins cap situation, he is being replaced with a cheaper wing, allowing them to resign their trade acquisitions. Signing Swayman likely hurts this, but the Oilers could attempt to offer sheet Gustavsson instead. If not they sign a cheaper backup such as Varlamov or Korpisolo, Blackwood, Quick, or even Brossoit. If they go cheaper here, they dont need as much cap retention here or for Karlsson.
- Detroit, cap retention
- Carolina, Chatfield comes off his first year playing consistently in the league. He would be expiring at the end of the year and likely due for a bit of a raise.
- Karlsson, probably my least favourite move here. Giving up too much, but I like the term, and HockeyViz has done analysis that show most teams can step up their defence in playoffs, but teams that are more offensively talented tend to make deeper runs. Can always have more grit, a lot harder to get more talent. I liked Parayko here, but It really depends if the Blues would retain salary for 7 years. He is cheaper, but Parayko will be 37 when his contract is up and a big boy like that will have a lot of wear to be paid 6.5M by then. All in all, probably not the best trade but its fun.
Leivo, Debrusk, Chatfield, all had great DFF%, and DFF%RC for the competition level they will be facing. - Via PuckIQ

Ostapchuk is much more the type of player Sens want than an undersized winger that doesn't produce much and needs a "change of scenery". Plus, Ostapchuk is much cheaper!
bruins decline. dont see them trading Debrusk and if they do, they wont be taking back a player making nearly as much $
I think they decline only because of the Offer Sheet. I cant see a team working with someone who is trying to steal one of their players with an OS. There tends to be bad blood when this happens. See Car and Mont.

Do you honestly think Sens would be interested in trading their beloved Ostapchuk for one of the most overrated players that I wouldn't pick up on waivers for free?
