No chance Winnipeg considers that. They'd be far better off buying Wheeler out.

As in that is too much for Malkin or you think it should be more? The NMC could limited the return I'll admit. But he IMMEDIATELY becomes the best offensive weapon on Carolina.

The hope would be he and Petry are moved later. Need some remotely competent players to play. Those two would average an insane amount of ice time.

Yeah they're know for an ownership group willing to spend their way out of problems. That's why all the players love going there.

Too much for Carolina and the numbers indicate that Sebastian Aho would still be the best offensive weapon and the fact that he's due for a massive regression makes him a no go for the Hurricanes

What numbers are those? Malkin 5v5 in 2023 2.4pts/60. Aho 2.2 pts./60. Malkin ppg over 1. Aho below 1.

Malkin- 20 and 27 goals

Malkin is old and his contract is too long. Im not counting on his health holding up again. He already said he had no interest in coming here and being number one and I doubt that has magically changed since he wanted to stay a penguin.

I didn't know we were making false equivalencies between goal scoring being the sole parameter for "offensive weapon." Though even there, it is questionable as Malkin's efficiency at 5v5 is only .1 lower than Aho's over the last two seasons.

Obviously this is highly hypothetical as FSG has no intention of rebuilding and if Dubas made any of these moves on 87/71/58 he would probably be rightfully terminated. I can see the legit arguments about his age and durability. I find the notion on his inefficient offensive productivity to be factually wrong though.

Okay that's fair enough. Malkin doesn't fix the Hurricane's problems unless he turns back the clock to 2011-12 form and scores 50 goals. The Hurricanes need a guy who can score in bunches and Malkin is not this at this point in his career

I would disagree. Malkin IF HEALTHY immediately fixes your 2C problem. He's also a superb PP weapon even compared to Crosby or Letang. But I can fully understand not wanting to take a chance on the age/durability. He's made of glass and plays very physical.

I'd agree he'd be an upgrade a 2C. I have concerns about his age and his contract. I think he'd be a great addition to the PP but I don't know if that fixes their problems in that area.

Okay so I read "minor" and then I see that you traded away our ENTIRE core like wtf. The offense is laughable, the defense would be worst than last season and I haven't even started on the trades. You probaly should have named this "trying to get as many first round picks as possible" because none of our 35+ core players are worth that many 1st round picks. And the icing on the cake is WE STILL HAVE GRANLUND AND CARTER

Obviously this is hypothetical and derisive in nature. If this scenario played out, it would be a full rebuild so having Granlund and Carter is inconsequential to the objectives.
