i'm assuming that the Goligoski trade can be with any team? Caps don't really have a reason to bring him on

If the 1sts aren't swapped, Arizona is getting Rossi and Addison for a 2024 2nd and 2023 3rd....at that point, it wouldn't be a "might". That'd be an absolute no-brainer.

I actually wonder what Arizona would do it the wild made a play for Logan Cooley. He clearly doesn’t want to be a part of everything happening in az and would be worth like Addison, rossi and a 2nd in this years draft I’d say.

Based on what? He's a 3rd OA pick and projects as a top 6 C. He doesn't have leverage and AZ doesn't need to trade him. And even if they did shop him, there would be an insane amount of interest league-wide. That package gets you laughed at.

Just listening to michael russo’s podcast. Not saying he’s right, just saying he’s way more plugged in than anyone on cf.

Plugged in, depending on the context and topic. There's also a fair number of things he and LaPanta blindly speculate/BS about.

IMO, this particular topic falls firmly into the latter.

He has leverage if he's patient and wants to stay in college 4 years. Actually, even if he leaves college next year since it's 2 years out I believe he becomes a UFA on August 1, 2024. If he doesn't sign with Arizona by that date.

NCAA players don't become UFA 2 years after their draft. Where are you getting that?

I believe if they declare they are turning pro the drafting team has until August 1 to sign them. Didn't McBain leave BU after his jr year and the Wild only had until August 1st to sign him or lose him as a UFA?

But that's in the event that they play 4 years. McBain is an example. Wild drafted him and owned his rights, played 4 years and said he wouldn't sign in MN. Was obviously then traded to AZ for a 2nd. And I'd have to double check, but the incentive there is that he can burn a year off the ELC if it gets done before Aug 1st. Otherwise, he/AZ would have presumably just waited. So now he's currently RFA, 2 years out of school.

Cooley can't just nope out after his sophomore year and have the same options.

Do you think they would consider Rossi, Addison, and the 21st for Cooley?

I don't personally think that's enough, but it is hard to definitively say since it's highly dependent on:

1) how highly they view Rossi and/or how much Tourigny would go to bat for him
2) how confident they are in long-term buy-in/commitment from Cooley
3) they don't get a more appetizing offer elsewhere based on what they want

Feels like it's sort of a "you can only pick 2 scenario", but all 3 would be required to get it done.....not a perfect way to say it, but you get the point.
