I don't think they are particularly worried about improving their short term defense when they are trying to get another top 5 pick. I think there are better targets than Schmaltz. If that's the skill level we are looking for I would much rather extend Toffoli to a team friendly deal with term. Sam Reinhart is a much better target and Hanifin fits a need for them much more
