If Karlsson gets Bouchard then San Jose just keeps 4th oa and takes smith to spite Montreal then trades Karlsson for Bouchard themselves

Exactly. We will just retain 4 mil ourselves, trade Karl to Oilers and reap the benefits of Bouchard ourselves. Sorry Habs fan, very easy no from SJ

True but I think San Jose can benefit more from really good prospects to build around than Bouchard who is coming into his prime right now. All three of those kids are low risk high upside potential prospects.

Why would Edmonton do this? Karlsson is old, has years left on a ridiculous contract, could get hurt and body break down sooner, you have a low cost replacement already and have 8 UFA years.
Edmonton laughs and walks away.

I mean losing Bouchard is rough but it's hard to reject a deal like that imo

What if it was Slafkovsky instead of Farrell?

One reason: Karlson and McDavid are a cup winning tandem...right now. Do it for Connor.

Nah I disagree, karlsson at 7.5 mil for only 4 years if fair, Mesar is a fantastic forward prospect, Allen is a fine replacement and we lost Campbells contract without giving up anything extra? I say yes to this deal honestly, we still have assets and room to make a move for Pesce or another top 6 RW.

It’s a huge risk, good points…

Campbell nixes the deal anyways, the thought of moving that contract out is so appealing though.

At this point Edmonton can pick one more *** asset (maybe Nurse or Klef) to trade for a goalie/defender pair like Hart and Gudas (or similar...:Lyon/Montour). McDavid, Karlsson, Dreiseitl, Hart...nice ring to it. I bet you Torts would love Nurse!

I think jack Campbell is a great goalie. Not sure why it's not working out in Edmonton. Toronto forgets how many games he kept them in and how great he played in LA to de=throne Quick. Edmonton needs to dump that salary though, no two ways about it.

Bouchard is 23 and far better than any prospect offered to San Jose. It’s not like the rebuild will last longer than his retirement…or shouldn’t at least
