Description

I know the trade of Newhook isn’t ideal but otherwise I feel to get any value in a trade you’d have to include either Girard or Toews (I doubt we’ll be able to resign Toews anyway so trading Girard now and losing Toews to FA next year could put us in a real crappy spot). Dealing Newhook obviously hurts the future but Lindholm makes us a clear favorite.

I like the idea of a few reclamation projects in Drouin and Puljujarvi. Maybe Drouin on the top line with Mac and Nuke/Lehky you can hide his defensive abilities a bit.

I don’t love the Toews idea but he does add some leadership that could be lacking with Landy out again. Also taking a cheap flyer on OEL to see if maybe he can reclaim some of what he’s lost, if not I’m sure he’ll be ok as a 6-7 Dman with Jack Johnson.

Traded MacDermid to Chicago for a little protection for Bedard. Also I could see Edmonton as a possible landing spot for Manson if he were to actually be traded (no idea what his trade value actually is) but I like the idea of replacing him with Scott Mayfield for a little cheaper and a guy who has many connections to Denver.

I don’t really like the bottom 6 but maybe a player or two can emerge and help with some depth scoring.

Drouin is mentally weak and the Avs should stay away. Besides that, ur moves r fine.

Hawks are not paying for MacDermid and probably not all that interested in him to be honest. If you want to trade your 1st for the Ott 2nd, the Tampa 2nd, and the Chi 3rd, we would take MacDermid. Value on those picks very slightly favors the Avs.

Not a Drouin fan and, as mentioned, I don't see Manson going anywhere. Even if he did, I'm not sure he gets a 2nd back. It's an overpay for Lindholm. Newhook will be fine, especially if he gets some stability, so Newy plus a first is a stretch. I would give our 2023 1st and maybe a mid-prospect for Linholm. Hold on to the '24 1st.
