Love AM but AZ cant give up 6OA + 12OA (in this deep of draft) + middle 6 C + bottom 6 C (geekie projections) thats 4 important pieces for 1 elite piece. Cant see TML fans want to regress for couple of years (Hayton only piece ready to play)

No way they leverage the whole future when they can wait a year and throw a ton of money at him in free agency

pretty sure their internal cap is like a dollar over the cap floor. doubt they try and spend 14 million on a player, especially since they play in an arena dwarfed by junior league barns and their future in the area is in doubt

That's a leaf team that will miss the playoffs for sure.
Tavares offers little in defence. Extremely weak up the middle.

TML is in a bind w AM - cant lose him for nothing next year, a rebuilding team has cap but isnt going to give away good picks or young talent (one elite player isnt going to make AZ or ANA or SJS etc SC champs), a contender doesnt have space and wants to dump crap so not equal value for AM.

I will say, any of those teams would give up elite prospects or high picks. Prospects haven't proved anything yet and it is unlikely any prospect has a floor like Matthews'.
Now would they package a deal of them both? Unlikely, as you're right, one player (outside of McDavid) won't instantly make your team a contender.

agree a top prospect and top pick for elite all day but to get fair value for AM needs to be multiple top prospects/young NHL studs/high picks. thats the problem his value is so high to get equal needs to be so much returning. for rebuilding team 4/5 top pieces is so much to give up.
