I don't think it is unfair value. Not sure Dubas wants to give up the 14th in this strong draft for two rentals and a 2nd. Also have to figure Guerin is rebuilding if he trades away Hartman.

For me it's that last part. Seems like a rebuild move for the Wild. I can't imagine that going over well with the lockeroom. The fan base might understand, BUT if you're going to rebuild...don't half A$$ a rebuild. Tear it down all the way or expect to live in playoff purgatory. Always getting in, but never advancing.

All valid points! I am almost always a far-sighted “GM” but think Dubas would be a moron not to take one more big swing while Crosby, Malkin, and Letang are still relevant!

I agree with everything you just said…however, the Wild’s owner, Craig Leipold is old and impatient…and he would never sign off on a total rebuild…even if it is the right thing to do!

The problem in this scenario is that it is 2024 for the last hurrah then a rebuild is necessary. FSG at least expects to try for the postseason the next two years and then at the earliest start the rebuild when Crosby's contract expires.

Both players could be resigned, Zucc at considerably cheaper and Hartman for a fairly considerable raise.

I think I’d do this as a pens fan. This takes care of 3 needs in 1 trade. A reasonably priced middle 6 winger, a massive upgrade at 3C for much cheaper than we will find in FA, and gets them out of a Granlund buyout/dead cap situation. It also frees up money for next season when the cap should start to skyrocket making room for Guentzel and Hartman extensions.

Having picks 14, 21 & 53 would be awesome. I don’t really know if it’s worth taking on Granlund’s contract while simultaneously making the team much worse. Also, trading away Kirill’s linemates (including his best friend) and entering a half assed rebuild doesn’t seem like a great idea to me

Strictly talking value here, I wouldn’t add Hartman and Zucc with retention to that Granlund deal. His contract is… not good, to put it nicely

Has his game gone to crap that much? Sad if true. I figured he could find a resurgence playing on a line with Kaprizov, maybe…

I mean, maybe? But if I were Bill Guerin, I wouldn’t bet on it. Especially at that price
