I don't get why Garland has negative value to people. We bought out OEL so we could avoid the chip of being cap-strapped. He fetches at least a 3rd(no retention).

Just my $.02. He doesn’t per we have negative value. However, he isn’t a guy top teams are chasing to put them over the hump. That leaves you with teams in a rebuild. Those teams aren’t tripping over themselves to land him for a $5m/3 year term. The market for him is small. He is a decent player who can pop 40-50 points a season but is signed too long for top contenders and just old enough to not be attractive to a rebuild.
