Also, look at Arizona. They have 28m in cap space, but have to put Weber, Voracek and Little on LTIR at the start of the year. But if they traded them, they will have 49m in cap space. But instead they wait until the start of the year to place them on LTIR and will then have 21m in cap space when the season starts

Unless there is different language in the CBA you can find then he will not count against the cap. Muzzin is injured indefinitely and I don't think they will have trouble proving that.</div></div>

If I’m not mistaken, that last sentence states that with Muzzin still in Toronto, at the start of the season, his 5.5m will count towards the cap… hence why teams trade players that are on LTIR (Weber, Datsyuk, Seabrook, Clarkson, etc.)

Yes his contract is on LTIR, but he cannot go on LTIR until after game 1, I believe. So his salary would still count until after game 1. So to clear the cap, you trade him so you can spend the money in the summer

Teams aren’t going to bend over backwards and give up the players actual worth so the Kings can have a good team, they’re gonna need to accept that they’re not gonna get full value. If they don’t trade Ardvidsson and/or Iaffalo, they have no cap space.

Pesce is 10x better than Provorov, but Flyers got that same deal for him. I think it’s fair, I would even give a bit more from Buffalo to Carolina

Muzzin cap is there for game 1, so if Toronto wants to spend the 5m from Muzzin before the season starts, they’ll need to trade him. Cap space is the last thing Chicago is worried about for the next few years

IMO, brannstrom should be traded. I forgot to add that, but Ottawa doesn’t need his type of play for the team they have.
Yeah it’s another Left handed D, my other thought was Brett Pesce from Carolina as he’s a right handed D

Apples and Oranges. Last year, Hawks had one goalie under contract. They needed a veteran goalie. And they had a brand new GM running his first ever draft who was looking to make as big a splash as possible to start the rebuild. Totally different now. Hawks still have Mrazak plus 3 other goalies signed to NHL deals. And Hawks have WAY MORE draft capital than they had last year. Murray isn't a need for Hawks so Leafs pay more than moving back 13 to dump him. And Muzzin is a non starter in this deal. Hawks don't make the trade if Muzzin is in for a 2nd. Hawks don't offer better than Dallas 3rd (#93) and in that case Leafs probably don't make the trade.</div></div>

Why wouldn’t Chicago just sign a goalie in Free Agency instead of trading for Mrazek? Because they got a 1st. Same is the case with this trade. Who wouldn’t want to move up 20 spots into the 1st round for 1 year of Murray? And they don’t have to pay Muzzin, as he’s on LTIR, insurance pays him not the Hawks

You have no assets to trade for a goaltender. Also, you need cap space to resign Guentzel. Could add another guy on a 1 year deal if you want.
