I’m assuming that Calgary would be trading 1 of their defenceman that are UFAs in 2024

Yes, but I’ve also read that Backlund may not resign in Calgary. So to clear cap for the Flames, they get a young D in return

Pesce is 10x better than Provorov, but Flyers got that same deal for him. I think it’s fair, I would even give a bit more from Buffalo to Carolina
