There's no way I'd sign Hill to that contract. The league is filled with goalies that have a good stretch of play and then go bust.

This is basically the same team as last season. Same bottom 6 issues. Weak LD ...

I like the Barbashev signing but the bottom 6 and the D would be a real issue here. We need much more change then this I think.

That's the same reason why I wouldn't trade the 1st for a goalie. The goalie position is just so volatile now. I would just sign two solid goalies, a 1a and 1b and just hope one of them catches fire. I think if we fix our defense then we'd be fine with this approach.

True. At least someone like Hellebuyck and Saros have strong recent history of years playing well. Hill could be out of the league in a few years and no one would think twice about it.

Still would be hesitant to trade for one of those two just because I think any goalie would struggle behind our defense. Would like to see that pick used for either an elite forward or defensive help. But I do agree, while that's my preference you can't really go wrong Saros (Hellebuyck reportedly wants a 9.5 mil extension which I'd stay far away from). Would prefer that over giving Hill a huge contract. Max I'd pay Hill is 3.5 mil which makes it unrealistic.

I think we should play Puustinen with Granlund to try to give Granlund a spark. Sign a new 3RW fine but then we should trade Nylander don’t just let him rot as a scratch. Same with Smith. Smith shouldn’t just rot as a healthy scratch if we’re not gonna play him. Trade him too if we sign a 2LD or 3LD. I’m fine with not signing Hill but I don’t wanna move that 14th OA unless we’re trading back and get a late 1st and 2nd or multiple 2nds and a 3rd.

I don't think NSH trades Saros without a huge overpayment, i.e.; PIT's next two 1st rounders. You might be surprised how little UFA goalies get. Teams are seeing the inconsistency in their play with term.

Bruins can sign a cheaper goalie than DeSmith and they will probably need to.

If we cannot elect major change to the roster then it would be better to rebuild. Because this roster cannot contend without major major change.
