Ty Smith waiver claim
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheFastAndTheFleuryous</b></div><div>Where would he play? <em>Maybe</em> he replaces Jack Johnson, but that’s his off-side.
EDIT: just realized that that’s Johnson’s off-side too. Still, I agree with eddyed24 that there’s no way he makes it to Colorado.</div></div>
I believe Smith has played right d throughout Juniors so he can play either side

just a look at depth for bottom of lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penz87</b></div><div>Libor Hajek is kinda buns, but Pysyk would be a small upgrade over Ruhwedel I think. Overall, there is a clear emphasis on defense with this team's depth. In theory, I think it could work, but in practice...I don't know. I'm a little worried about the lack of offense in the bottom 6, but if you get a healthy Karlsson then he alone can add significant production. I think this team is certainly better than whatever the hell last year's bottom 6 and defense was.</div></div>
agreed. Hajek maybe could bounce back in WBS hopefully, he’s just never really put it all together. I think that O’Connor could hopefully pot some playing full time on the 3rd line. Or we could drop one of Smith, Rust, or Rakell down, too. It’ll be interesting to see how the team shakes out this coming season.

just a look at depth for bottom of lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BestGMBenning</b></div><div>Honestly I like our bottom 6 better now. I know people are going to say it’s still a problem but I trust the growth of Drew O’Connor and Alex Nylander to end up blossoming this season. Perhaps Poulin ends up making the team as well. Rem Pitlick is also a nice piece to have in that bottom 6. Andreas Johnsson. They maybe a bunch of project type of players but they are low risk high reward add ons. I trust that Sully and the coaching staff will make our bottom 6 one of the best in the league. They have the legs, speed, defence, versatility, grit. It’ll be fun to see how they turn out. Overall depth is a bit better as well. Tomas Tatar would be amazing to have. But I don’t see it happening as the days go by and we still have the cap space to somehow clear for him.</div></div>
Cap space is our only roadblock, really. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out

Not like Carter would waive anyways. He’s staying in Pitt cus he doesn’t want to move his family. I don’t know why Penguins fans make ACGMs moving Carter. It’s not going to happen

I think he could be a great middle 6 play driving forward. I personally see him at LW but he could play C too. Hopefully now he’s over his off ice issues and can live up to the potential of the guy we drafted in 2019. Only time will tell

Smith on the 3rd one to spread out talent/test DOC as a top 6 power forward. Smith and Joseph can’t be paired together. It just won’t work. We don’t have too many other options for the 3RW and Nylander deserves a chance

Fantilli huge year, Merzlikins bounce back, Gaudreau + Laine bounce back, Kent Johnson big year. Sillinger comes back after his sophomore slump. A lot can go right for this team for them to do good. I know it’s unlikely for that much to go right but crazier things have happened

23-24 outlook
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>I'd list a realistic outcome as 4th behind CAR, NJD, NYR. I don't see how NYI- another aging team that is status quo from their lineup they ended the season with- is marked for any improvement. PIT at least made changes that are riskier, but have more upside. CBJ needs a MASSIVE point increase. Unless Fantilli is a strong Calder candidate, their center depth will still get exploited regularly.</div></div>
I honestly have CBJ as a team to overachieve and reach at best 4th in the Metro hence the rankings. I also factored in for realistic that all of Karlsson, Letang, and Malkin don’t play 82 which will drop them a spot.
