2324 the peak of the Wild cap hell

Description
Undoubtedly this is the crunch year of these cap hits for the Suter/Parise buyout and recapture story. I would say this is the point at which BG will make it break his legacy. It’s a super delicate period as just fielding a competitive team with only 82% of the salary available to the rest of the league.
This scenario shows how tight the decisions are.
The homer spin on this projection is the comeback of Pavel Novak making the club, Rossi and Walker establishing themselves as regulars, holding onto all the veterans under contract allowing for trade deadline selling if the season is not as successful and getting both Duhaime and Gus signed.
The scenario resolves the Addison situation, doesn’t get inpatient with Rossi, figures out a solution to Goligoski and allows them to be aggressive on draft night next week.
I think this approach would be tough to thread the needle, but allows them to play some youth and let the season unfold as it may. If they are on the outside looking in, they can move 17, 36, and/or 38 for some futures or prospects. If it goes well, all the better, they will have learned a lot more about roster guys like Novak, Rossi, Walker, Beckman etc befor the expected arrival shorty of Yurov, Ohgren and Khustnidov.

Jerk-free feedback welcome!

A hunch that the Calen Addison situation is resolved by way of a draft day trade if someone slides a bit that the Wild want to get aggressive and trade up for.

I have no idea who you could trade him to and who he would waive his NMC for - he has it because he wanted to end his career at home in MN — but maybe he still wants to play, and he sat a lot last year

Caps aren't interested in another 37 year old, even if you gave him to us

I'm sure Steel would be the type of player involved in a player+pick for player swap. Either way around. I'd guess a late 4th+6th would be his value considering his contract value.

Check out the mock draft I just did and see if you agree, it is also in the ACGM post I made. Gets a top center and a center prospect to the wild and takes Zucc as a cap hit.

Obviously stuff can change, but it sounds like Goligoski is not interested in waiving and will stay in MN (at least to start the year).

That's according to this mornings Russo/Smith mailbag on The Athletic.
