I would say okay if we got Beau @ 50% instead of Garland

I think the market for Pesce is going to be pretty hot given this crop of FA, so remove the 1st rounder that CAR is giving up and MAYBE this works assuming a better offer doesn't exist

I don’t think so. Let’s say Garland trade value is a third right now. Canes are essentially moving pesce to move up 15 spots in the draft and for two thirds. Seems like they could get quite a bit more.

And if pesce lands on that deal with VAN I think there’s a deal to be made in CAR similar to that.

If it was the VAN first would you feel different about it?

A bit but still don’t think that gets me close. Would have to swap the CAR first with a mid to late pick going back instead to get me seriously thinking about it.

Yeah

I wouldn't do that trade. Murray isn't even that bad compared to most of the goalies available this summer.

Don't see Pesce getting anywhere close to that with younger options like Hannifin and possibly Carlo being available.

We’ll see. Hanifin is an LD and good but different type of player. Haven’t seen Carlo available but that would put more supply in the market and def hurt pesce trade value.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out. I’d expect a first in 10-20 range and a pretty good prospect as a base if pesce moves with an extension. Maybe I’ll be disappointed but don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibilities.

Trade deadline might fetch a bigger return. Also, not sure why Canes need to cut salary?

Yeah, issue with TDL is I wouldn’t want to be moving big pieces around on a contender. If the bottom falls out and we’re not gonna make the playoffs then that makes sense but that’s probably not likely and def not the expectation going in to the season.

They don’t need to cut salary. They want to figure out if pesce and Skjei are part of the long term plan since they’re both a year out. But with both being right around 30 when an extension would kick in I don’t think the canes are willing to give big 6-8 year deals. So if they can’t come to a deal with those guys then they probably flip them for players or assets that they can use to get other players under contract beyond this year.

I think pesce will ultimately stick around and sign a 5ishx6.5ish deal

I think the fact he'd be a great D-partner with Hughes is the lure from Canuck fans.
