Description
Last one, I promise.
According to Frank Seravelli it’s sounding like Lindholm won’t be resigning. Maybe if he’s willing to do some sort of sign and trade to CO Newhook could be a piece. I know a lot of people crap on Girard but he’s not as bad as what most people think. Plus he’s under contract for 4 more years. Brannstrom is then brought in to be a Girard replacement on the 3rd pairing. I like Frankie more than Korpisalo and signed him to the same term but unfortunately had to use him as the key piece for Brannstrom.

Manson gets traded to EDM and waives his clause to be reunited with his dad. Mayfield is brought in as a slightly cheaper option. Maybe he’s open to the idea considering he played at DU and seems to like the area.

Moved out CO 1st this year and turned it into a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to use in this years draft considering their draft pick pool was depleted. I also moved our CO 24’ 1st. Not sure if they’re really interested in moving 2 1sts.

I’m sure there will be plenty of interest in Sharangovich so I’m not sure what it would take to acquire him but I’d love to have him on the 3rd line.

A handful of reclamation projects in Drouin, Puljujarvi, and OEL. I’d like to see Drouin reunited with Mac. He’ll never live up to his draft pick potential but sometimes a change of scenery can really help a guy. He’d have some familiarity as he’s played with both Mac and Lehky. Puljujarvi is friends with Rantanen I wouldn’t really expect much from him but maybe he could become a serviceable middle 6. I think if OEL were to get completely healthy he could be a decent 6-7 dman.

I left some $ available to be flexible with the Byram/Newhook contracts. If not just use the cap space available for the trade deadline.

The Branny trade is tempting, but Ottawa already has a 1B goaltender and is actively looking for a long term 1A. I think the value is right for Branny, just not the right fit.

Hawks decline. That's a big overpay to move up 8 spots to #27. Chicago 2nd and Rangers 2nd is the best CO gets.

Hawks say yes...but the value on the picks is lopsided in their favor. #27 for #44, #55, & #67 is much closer to fair value.

Must have revised Hawk 2nd to Ott 2nd? picks I see are lopsided in Hawk's favor.

So CHI would trade #35 and #55 but not #44, #67, and #93 for #27? Okay I’d rather have your deal. I never had #35 included in the trade. Maybe you just gave it a quick glance and saw it wrong. But I do like your offer more.

If you didn't edit, I think he misread the Hawk 3rd as the Hawk 2nd....which would make it lopsided. 35 + 55 is spot on value charts for 27. I would prefer 44 + 55 +67 and to hang onto that 35 spot. Think Hawks need quality of picks more than the quality they have....which makes trading with the Avs who lack quanity but do have a 1st a good match.

If you didnt revise this since my comment, I misread the picks. My bad. I read the trade as #35, #44 and #93 for #27

Wait, what kind of value does Francouz have? I have seen just a single pick the other day

Would you trade Brannstrom for a 2nd round pick? I certainly wouldn't

I would consider him an equal to Forsberg in terms of what a goaltender is versus his contract. I would trade brannstrom for a 2nd, he is versatile, yes, but I think he has reached his peak

I think Brannstrom is just scratching the surface, his defensive game is now a very big strength and his offense was resulting in more tangible results towards the end of the season... What about a bot-4 2-way D-man who can add 30-40 pts with 2nd PP time? He's never going to cost too much. The big 4 long term should be Chabot, Sanderson, Chychrun and Kleven but we could afford to wait a little on Brannstrom and trade him at peak value

Have you seen that? When advanced stats confirm the eye test, it's good (it's in relation to deployment of course but nonetheless impressive)

Honestly I haven't really gone much into advanced stats. I go by the eye test more or less. If he's not at his peak then yeah, it looks like he could possibly grow to be a solid 2-way D. I'm happy he has found his defensive game and his offense is following in tow. He looks to be a solid 5-6 with the capacity to fill in on any line in case of injury.
From a distance, D isn't the glaring issue for Ottawa (for the first time in a long time), it's goaltending and bottom 6 support. I personally feel Ottawa CAN afford to swap him out for one of the two requirements. Should they? Probably not. Can they? Definitely.

I see... Well, it can take time to figure out advanced stats, there's a lot to read about it

They can afford to move him but I think trading ADB for a young middle-6 forward and picks, plus getting a solid 2-way veteran forward on the UFA market or via trade would do the trick
