So the Pens and Blues make out and the Flyers get a reach around and lube but still get pegged. No thanks.

Flyers probably get the best deal here.

The Pens easily do. They get Krug for only 4.8 million and and a 2023 4th for a 2024 2nd. Considering the 2023 draft is way stronger and the pick they get is a year sooner that is barely a loss for them. They essentially get Krug retained to under 5 million for nothing.

It's pick #112 vs what's most likely pick 45 or so next season. This draft is strong, but that's a massive difference.

Krug, unless in the right circumstance at 4.875 still isn't a great value. He has to be on a 3rd pair 5v5, there's no way around it. He is really good at QBing a PP but that's a big financial committment for a special teams player.

The Flyers give a very quick NO to this proposal.
It is terrible for them.
