I would personally rather keep the assets spent on Mcleod, and just sign Suter to a similar contract instead. Otherwise the offseason will likely look very similar to this.

I think McLeod could be a steal for cheap. Underutilized, fast, kills penalties. Production not bad for somebody only getting 12 minutes a night

Devils have no incentive to trade him though. Why would they if he's doing all of those things for them at a low cap hit?

I'd only be opposed to Clifton. Not that I don't like him as a player but I'm not sure he'd entertain Vancouver or that he'd be much of a fit with Hughes. I see him as a depth guy and with Myers here and Johannson and Woo knocking on the door, no need for 3 years. That said, bring back Schenn for Hughes to have a familiar face. Especially if TO is offering him near minimum, a return to Van would be intriguing.

Perhaps an abundance of forwards who are pushing for spots? If I am remembering correctly, Haula, Yegor and Mercer have all been serviceable centremen in the past.

Yegor and Mercer primarily played wing this year, and Yegor seems to be the odd one out since he'll be more expensive than McLeod
