Description

The Canes, like my Devils are a lock for the playoffs next year. This team is so close and if it wasn’t for key injuries they would’ve at least made the final last season.

Strengths: depth, defense
Weaknesses: wings

The I have 1 long term concern and 1 short term. The short term is simply the team needs at least 1 more top 6 forward. I’m not sure I trust JK as the 2C but I think you could do worse. The long term concern is how many key guys are up next year. They need to make sure Aho signs an extension this summer because he is the key to this offense.

Another concern revolves around Pesce. I think Pesce is looking for somewhere in 6 mil range, max term and I think the team is hesitant to give the bag and term to him. He could fetch a great return but I think it makes them worse.

Don’t really think the team needs to make many trades, assuming Pesce stays.

My prediction: 1st in Metro

Need to do a little more imo.

Bring Freddy back or another 1A on the market. Could see Raanta coming back too but wouldn’t go with just this combo. Too much to risk on Koochie and can’t give Raanta more than 25-30.

Need to use that cap space to address top 6 - likely in a trade for another high end winger imo. Somebody like Cat, Keller would be great but other options are good too. I’m good with KK as 2C as long as he’s surrounded with talent.

Would also improve the third line and get a piece or two there. Would love if we essentially shifted last years third line to the fourth line and brought in some big and or gritty guys on the third line - likely trade route bc I don’t want to overpay for Bert or Barby.

I like the OEL move a lot but would also snag a 6/7D backup option in case needed. Seeler would be great I think.

Problem is he’ll get longer and bigger deals so unlikely that would do the trick. Same with Barby. UFAs are generally overpaid which is why canes FO is averse to going after those FA big fish.
