Description
Thank you LA for overpaying for PLD so we can finally move on. Heres what I would like to see.
-Habs draft Michkov or Leonard at 5 and take Colby Barlow or Matthew Wood at 14.

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2023 1st round pick (PIT)
  2. 2023 5th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Pittsburgh needs draft capital and that trade gives them the opportunity to get 2 quality prospects (#31 and #37) instead of one.
PIT
  1. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Habs draft one of Wood/Barlow/Willander with the #14 pick.
2.
MTL
  1. Boqvist, Adam
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (CBJ)
CBJ
  1. Mesar, Filip
  2. 2023 4th round pick (VGK)
3.
MTL
  1. Boeser, Brock
  2. 2025 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
-Top 10 protected. Goes to 2026 if its top 10.
-The way I see it, cap space is king and offloading 6M$ while acquiring a young defenseman with top 4 upside is worth a mid round 1st pick. The pick wont be as valuable for Vancouver in 2-3 years, they should (hopefully) be on the way up by then.

Vancouver say NO: Harris worth Boeser one on one... because of the cap situation... they can give you a 2nd or a 3rd.

Pitts trade again is a NO: 14 OA Worth more than a late 1st + 2nd... add a NHL ready prospect called Farrell or Ylonen or Kovacevic

Not doing that, Durzi just went for a 2nd and Mesar is a 1st round pick. We can get a better player with the 31st and Boqvist cant stay healthy so thats the max Id give up

Carolina doesn't do that trade, Chatfield was good for them in the playoffs

I wouldve done a 2nd but you guys dont have a lot of picks so I went with this. The comparable in my head for the Habs would be to package a top 10 protected 2025 1st and Anderson for a young defensive prospect, which I would do depending on the player. Durzi went for a 2nd, and LA had to give a 2nd to get rid of Peterson's contract while taking on some of Provorov's contract, so Imo Boeser+2nd for Harris would be good value

Agreed on Boeser, dont agree on the PIT trade. These kind of trades have been done before and pick #37 is basically a late first. Two late firsts for a mid 1st is great value, you might actually draft a better player at 31/37 than 14.

Last year I would agree... but not this year has top 5 are Elite, 6 to 20 are BIG Ceiling prospect/Top6 type of player up to Barlow, Yager, Perreault... after they are all Suspect...
So 14 still as a lot of value IMO vs 2xlate First

No interest in mesar and definitely not adding on top of that. Odds of the 31st pick becoming an NHL regular aren’t very good and odds of being better than boqvist are very slim

NHL teams have draft pick value charts. Your total value in the proposed trade is the equivalent of PIT giving away a mid 2nd round pick for nothing. I'm sure Dubas will find that very unwise.

These value charts vary in methodology and dont consider quality of draft classes and team needs, foolish to think an actual NHL GM bases his picks value on that.

I'm sure they do vary some. However, your proposal will come out favorable to MTR in every one because it isn't close to fair value in any of them. And you are delusional if you think NHL GMs- at least Dubas- wouldn't be aware of those metrics.

The value may be right, but there’s no reason for Vancouver to sell low on Boeser now that there is some cap flexibility. Also Vancouver will need its 1st picks with the buyout
