I love your Michkov take, Montreal may already have Caufield but he's our only truly elite goalscorer since...? Getting Michkov at 5 would be a absolute steal of a pick for a player of his caliber, and I am on my knees praying that Hughes takes the risk on him.

However, Michkov can not simply defect from Russia as you suggested, he can leave the country and move to Montreal, but the NHL and KHL have systems in place to honor each others player's contracts, even if Michkov were here, he could not play hockey at any level for the 3 year duration of his KHL contract, and the last thing we would want should we draft him is 3 years of not playing professional hockey, would tank his development.
