Bouchard and Gustavsson are the two offer sheets that make sense.

Sort of did though. If you use the trade value chart in the Athletic, the GSVA that SJ gave up is 4.1 in draft picks while Pittsburgh gave up 5.1 + Granlund. This trade is basically saying that it would only cost an early-ish 3rd round pick to dump Granlund's money for the next 2 years (which is too low).

I think this team is better than with those two offer sheets... plus Bouchard could be interesting only if petry is traded

$5M contracts for 2 years cost more than a 3rd round pick to move. If you want to call the deal Granlund + 14th overall for Gregor and 36th overall then maybe that is more appropriate value.

That or take the SJ picks out altogether and SJ just sends Barabanov for Granlund + 14th overall.

The Kings wouldn't like it, but they could probably match.
They're already exploring moving one of Arvidsson or Iafallo, this would just cement that.

Currently they have ~5mil in cap space to sign Vilardi and a goalie. Common thought amongst Kings fans is Vilardi signs a 1 year bridge for 3-3.5mil to get paid next year when both the cap goes up and Kopi's contract goes down a bit. That leaves only 1.5-2mil for a goalie.

If Vilardi got 6, and they traded one of Arvi or Iafallo, that cap space for a goalie goes up to about 3mil or so.

An offer sheet would force LA's hand, but I think they can feasibly match anything up to the next level of awards going back with one or two corresponding moves that wouldn't drastically change the makeup of the team.

again Granlund isn't going to cost too much to dump for two reasons:

1. he is still a serviceable player overpaid by 2m and a rebuilding team will probably like the fact that retained can bring back some assets
2. he has a really low buyout in terms of money, so a team like the sharks could go up a LOT in the draft and then buy him out

3. if teams will ask too much dubas will just buy him out and take the 800k on the cap

Chicago declines, a late 3rd doesn't cut dumping Carter

it is a 3rd and a prospect, and its for 3mil buyout for one season. it is more than enough market wise, you might want a 1st as a chi fan sure but if you look around the league this price is very fair.

plus makes zero sense for chi not to do that. gains assets and doesn't touch the team

Jarry retained for three years with $5,000,000 AAV does not improve the Penguins' primary goaltending. I would top that with another $1,000,000 AAV to Frederik Andersen for two years. Lindberg Gauthier, and Blomqvist should be making their cases with Wilkes-Barre/Scantron to play for Pittsburgh within two years.

I didn't say a 1st, and the prospect is a AHL player unlikely to be anything more then a bottom 6 player at best as he's too small and not enough skill to overcome it at the NHL level; in other words, not worth mentioning.

Not taking Carter for a very late 3rd rounder, that's not the market rate to dump $3.1M.

you never saw svej play... you don't know who he is (don't blame you nobody knows pens prospects) but he has the potential to be a really skilled player. his size is going to slow down this process, but they said the same thing of guentzel years ago... not saying he's going to be a 40 goal scorer but he has potential.

plus if you don't want him fine we will give you another 3rd
2 3rds are plenty for a buyout
this was the less meaningful trade anyway

How'd he do in the AHL last year? Not good for someone who has skilled potential as you say. I watched some youtube videos, and his skill doesn't stand out to the level he will need in order to be successful at his size in the NHL. Not saying anything can happen because it can. Either way he's a long shot to be an impactful player at this point. He's got a big mountain to climb.
