That Compher contract is just brutal. There's no way you want a 4.5 third line center fro five years. That bottom six is still real suspect. Particularly with Pacioretty.

brutal for who? He's getting that and more in UFA. 4.5 for a 3C isn't even that bad after this season, you get a pretty great middle 6 player for a long time for the price.

If the cap goes up only 1m this coming season, 24-25 will be an increase to (edit: at least) the low 90s. Shouldnt spend it until its confirmed but, 50/50 hrr was projected at 92.5 last season(if that thing didnt happen) and hrr has grown a lot. If it only goes up 4m, there will be a huge concession in escrow from owners.

No. He's not having another season like that, particularly as a 3C and paying players $5 million to play on your third line is death. You are grossly overrating Compher.

I really am not overrating him, but okay. He's easily worth 5 even at a points regression. He is probably not having another season like that if he's your 3C, you're right, though. The cap is not what is was yesterday or what it will be next year. 3 years from now we'll be begging to pay our 3Cs $5mil.

Compher does alot more. Reason why he had a.breakout season is the players he was playing with. He's more of a defensive forward with some skill.

yeah, i think it's a great move. I think newhook has some parts of his game that will definitely be better after this coming season, but overall, you get at minimum a replacement to newhook and a first round pick. pretty sweet stuff.

I feel they gonna keep there own 1st rd but trade Florida's 1st rd for a top 6 forward with some retention.
