Jets decline unless if they have enough cap space to afford him.

I really like this for the Jets, would probably have to send back Dillon as well.

Don’t mind the idea of it, but done as a bargain, rather than full price, that’s a ton of term to eat if it goes bad. Lots of change over up front, so possibly some moves to rebuild the blueline, got to make room or get rid of heinola, also time to decide on Dillon and demelo on contract years, rfa samberg could probably return something decent, so not opposed to trading or a longterm contract. Pionk I would like to see given a partner that works and possibly shined up for a nice deal at the deadline or extended. Morrissey is morrissey probably just left alone, but with his size probably nice to add a little size around him. Stanley can be added into a deal, he needs a change of scenery.

The Flyers can take back Dillon with the deal as constructed.

That is the bargain price. I'm not a huge Sanheim fan so you will get no argument from me that the contract isn't the greatest. The aav is fine, and will look good in a few years. The term is about three years too long though. Either way, if he were signed for 4 or 5 years he would easily go for a first and high level prospect based on what 2nd pairing D go for.

The Flyers can also take back some salary with the deal as currently constructed. Nothing long term though without any additional assets coming back. We could take back Dillon or Wheeler for example.

Jets have to take risks like these. You’re buying low on a big dman who can eat minutes with term. Sanheim has been great his whole career, until Philly started to suck, and everyone started having worse numbers. This is exactly the type of deal they should be making.

If we could do Schmidt/Pionk, 18th and a 2nd for 22nd and Sanheim I’m all over that deal.

Ideally we move Pionk or Schmidt back in this deal. I could see PHI having interest in Pionk. Can be their PP1 QB after deangelo inevitably is moved to CAR. They can then flip pionk at the TDL or next offseason for a nice package.

I would argue full price, but possibly splitting hairs, with the abundance of left handed dman out there, yes he possibly prefers the offhand side, so a little more benefit. But that term could turn ugly if he slows down, and coming off a bit of a off year and in the middle of a fire sale, I think the price could be less to offload that term on a rebuild. Pretty sure the elkhorn farm boy would be excited to waive for Winnipeg. So not going to bad mouth him anymore.

Offloading Schmidt with it has my attention again, flipping his salary and 2 years, offsets sanheims for 2 years and half a million difference, I’m still hoping for pionk and a renaissance. Sanheim/pionk second pairing might not be bad, would have to continue making moves though,

My point is the price above is baked into the term being too long. If he didn't have a contract with that term he would go for a first round pick and more. Worse defenseman than Sanheim are consistently traded for comparable packages even as pending UFAs.

Schmidt, 18, and Montreal's 2024 2nd for Sanheim and 22 works for the Flyers.

With that term though, I could only come up with about three teams that would be even possibly kicking the tires on him, I could be wrong and have been wrong plenty of times lol. But Winnipeg/st.Louis and Arizona would be the 3 teams in my opinion would take the gamble and not sure of even Arizona.

Yes please. Sign me up ASAP. I’ll even sign with my blood if I have to. Like you have no idea how fast I accept this deal lol.

No complaints there! I just figured they'd prefer Dillon since he only has 1 year and would be easier to move with no trade protection.

Either is fine. Dillon would be better.
