Why are u signing Pacioretty?, after 2 achilles injuries (both on the same leg) he is most likely done for his career)

Could see the Blues moving Bortuzzo just because of how many d men we have in that range that need ice time. Would hope to squeeze more than a 6th out of him though, or at least wait until camp to make sure someone doesn't get hurt. He was actually pretty effective last season in very limited usage. That being said, you can't really ask for much for him if you're moving him.

He's not going anywhere. He's a team leader and does his job well for peanuts. And while there are several Dmen around, exactly none of them can do the things he does.

The Oilers never make that deal without an extension. That is a massive package. 2 1sts, a 2nd plus a capable RHD. That is much better deal than is likely for Pesce.

Don't doubt that, but also don't doubt that the org wants to get an extended look at a guy like Tucker and unless two of Krug/Rosen/Bortuzzo are moved it doesn't seem likely that would happen. Not going to throw Perunovich in that grouping because I don't think him being on the roster is all too consequential to a guy like Bortuzzo being on the roster. That's more inline with what happens with Krug.

Why do they want an extended look at Tucker? Who said that? He's a depth guy. And an LD.

Just purely speculating. Tucker played RD a bit last season for us. But also, Perunovich has played RD a good bit. It would probably behoove the Blues to take a look at a few of their younger defenseman, I just am not really too sure they would do it prior to seeing how the first couple of months of the season play out.

Also speculation, but there's a real chance Bortuzzo could ask to be moved. He was healthy scratched alot last season and if I were him in the later years of his career while he still provides something I would ask to be sent to a team that's in a more competitive window. I think we're trying to be competitive, but we have a few more growing years until that happens. We have plenty of veteran leadership to do a favor for him and move him, as well as plenty of depth to fill the role.

Nah, deal doesn’t make canes better and none of the first round assets are very valuable. Pass.

Huh? He wasn't healthy scratched a lot.

And you and everyone else may think it takes three years to be competitive again(which blows my mind), but Army is not playing that game. We're trying to rally now = Bortz is the 3RD/PK1 specialist/security captain for his teammates. Nobody else on the D roster can touch him in this role. Not even close. Did you not see our PK and late lead protection every time he was injured last season? He's much more important than folks give him credit for.

I also would not simply assume he wants to leave.

I tried calculating it based on his injury history and game dates. It looked like he was healthy scratched 15-20 games which is near a quarter of the season. It's not uncommon for a bottom pairing guy that provides what he does.

And yes what he provides is valuable. And i know Armstrong is trying to contend. But we have alot of question marks that aren't addressed (yet) and a pretty consensus weaker roster moving from Tarasenko + Barbashev + ROR to Vrana + Kapanen + Hayes.

It's not out of the question for us to compete sure, but it's also hard not to look and err on the side of caution. Given the core turnover as well, it's really not that out of the question for the organization to want to give younger guys a look. Bortuzzo maybe has 1-2 more good years in him at best. I don't think we believe our window internally is open yet, although with our forward prospect pool it doesn't look that far off.

I would not be the least bit surprised to see them bounce back to a de ent extent right away, if just from the coaching changes. Van Ryn and McTavish were brutal last season. This team is better than they played and I expect a lot of motivation in that room.

Oh... forgot earlier... I promise you about half those he wasn't ready to play. One of his things dragged on longer than expected, can't remember which one.

Yeah that’s why I tried looking through. I went off the date it showed cleared to play but it’s not always meaning he’s ready to go fully

The only thing that gives me caution is we had van ryn during the cup run. It’s definitely a different group so a fresh idea may help.

Ceci is a terrible defencemen and Bourgault is not someone we want it's win now 1st and 2nd is fine ig we can always flip those off bc they are gonna be 28th-32nd

Heh. You're right, but his job gets so much easier with Petro and Dunn around.
