Maybe I was overexcited with an earlier proposal

Created by: KentMcNally
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 30, 2023
Published: Jun. 30, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would this work?
If not, what needs to be changed?

The other older guys (Hoffman, Armia, Matheson, Savard get traded, bought out or play out their contracts). I just tried to make the team cap compliant and show what the long term lines would look like.

Easy no from Coyotes, Keller is on a one of the best team friendly contracts. You can be sure Arizona is on Anderson's no trade list.

You’re still a few years away from “trading away first round picks” territory

As you know, I would drop Kidney and the 2.5M retention. Habs should do this deal.

Take a look at Dach & Newhook deals. Are you sure about that?

I guess that depends on where Montreal's picks could end up in those years. If they think they will start competing for a playoff spot (wildcard) in 2024 and 2025, then the picks may be slotted in the 11 to 18 range and still would be highly unlikely to be near the top of any drafts after the draft lottery is completed.

I believe the team traded a first round pick two days ago.

What else do you think Arizona would want? (I think that roster players from my top 2 lines and Guhle, Reinbacher and Hutson are off limits, but anything else could go, in my opinion).

Let me clarify because apparently it wasn’t obvious enough. Their OWN 1st round picks.
