NOOOOOOOO
Sucks for us(Canucks) to lose a guy like him. He was SUPER underrated IMO and always gave it his all. Good for him to get the money though. A hometown guy as well for Vancouver, wished we signed him, but we couldn't afford this contract.

Surprised he got that much and that long. It’s not an outrageous amount but I figured he’s a 6/7 D…would get around league min.

Am I missing something here? Why is he getting anything more than league minimum, and term on top of it?

Grier loves these kinds of deals. Got a ton of criticism for Bennings deal which has already paid for itself with an excellent season.

A heart and soul guy who plays a solid defensive game. He's fantastic as a bottom pair guy as he proved in Vancouver when our blue line injuries mounted up.

I'm a Canucks fan and I have no idea. I really wanted the Canucks to resign him, but not at more than $1 million. He's a league minimum kind of guy.

I don't see it as a problem. If he's underperforming or some of our young guys seem ready his contract can 100% be buried in the AHL (up to $1.15M can be buried). I do find the term a bit peculiar (as I did with the Benning deal) but since it can be buried it's not really a problem.

As others have said, he will be missed in Vancouver. Character bottom pairing dman, undersized for the style he plays. sticks up for his teammates but short on skill. good for him to get that kind of money...but its an overpay by the Sharks, but nothing that will break the bank.

Overpays are relative. For the sharks this is not an overpay at all. Everyone said we overpaid Benning and Sturm but now sharks get calls on them all the time. This is super low risk for a rebuilder.

I guess he'll be used in the 2nd or 3rd D lines once EK65 gets traded out, but wouldn't he just take a spot that could be earned by a youngster in Juniors or in the Cuda? I mean, his cap hit isn't bad and it seems like he'll be missed in Vancouver if reactions here are anything to go by, but I'm curious about the thought process behind this signing.

5 points in 48 games with 62 PIMs...sounds like a worse, more expensive Jeffery Viel replacement.
