Relax.

His first priority is seeing where the extension talks are with Matthews and Nylander. Until he has a concrete answer on them, he’d be stupid to jump into signing a free agent to big money or term and lose cap space to sign his own guys that need new deals.

Not everything happens on the first day. There’s a whole summer to sign guys and make trades.

I can relax now that my expectations are in the basement and a huge number of FAs are signed. With so many players taking one year deals, I'm not sure that it was a zero-sum game. Also, since he's signed neither, I'm not sure the extension focus actually provides a lot of consolation.

That said, I will be thrilled if he pulls some rabbits out of hats in the next couple of months.
