That would be a pretty disappointing return for SJS I’d imagine.

Good thing that you're not a Carolina fan, or we would all blame this on the Hurricane fanbase.

Los Angeles just paid the equivalent of three seconds to get rid of a $5 million cap hit for one season while retaining more than $2 million on Ivan Provorov, for a net of $3 million in cap relief. Even assuming that our latently talented GM overpaid by 200%, and should only have paid ONE second-round draft pick, as you do here, what does that tell you about the value of paying Erik Karlsson $22 million not to play for San Jose? And there are some subtle indications that Erik Karlsson just may be worth more than Cal Petersen, Sean Walker and Helge Grans.

It's a three way trade and the net return would be Myers, Suzuki, 2nd and 1st for Karlsson 50% retained which isnt terrible. Myers term is less than Petersens so overall easier on the cap, could maybe even trade him retained at deadline. I think a 2nd, 1st, and Suzuki is also much better than Walker and Grans. I think VAN could probably add to the deal but Pesce is a UFA so wouldnt be much, maybe a decent 2nd round prospect. Carolina could upgrade 2nd to a 1st if they rly want Karlsson but unlikely since they are already giving up a two 1st of value in Pesce and Suzuki.
