Yeah San Jose isn’t moving a top 5 pick for Debrincat

Isn't there a point when RFA's become ufas if they don't get qualified by the team that owns their rights? That's why I wouldn't offer Ottawa a serious trade if he can become a UFA during the offseason but I don't understand how that goes.

He's definitely worth a first and a player.

Sharks arent trading for Debrincat other than at a cheap price to flip him to Toronto or another rival ottawa team

Ottawa filed for arbitration so think that makes him still their property. Next year though he will become a UFA if he doesn't sign more than one year deal.

He wasn’t before and he isn’t now. A top 5 pick and a top 6 winger plus? For a guy who just shoots? Hell no. There’s obviously not a market for what Ottawa is asking or else a deal would be done already.

I don't get why SJ would want ADB. They're rebuilding, and won't be contending for a couple of years. ADB ain't gonna be helping their young guys grow.

Also, Sens fans need to give up on Formenton. He ain't coming back. Yes, yes, it's all innocent until proven guilty. But you have to be logical here. Last season, when every player put out releases, vetted by their lawyer, saying their innocent and then ended getting new deals to play, Formenton chose to decline his QO, vanish from public life, say nothing, and go play in Europe. Yes, the report still has to come out, but his behavior makes it seem like it won't be good for him. So let's just all move on. We should aim to have players that are decent human beings, regardless of their talent.

Right that is a good point being a top 5 pick that is very valuable you're probably right they have to do the top 10 protected I think now tbh debrincat is going to have a better career than 99% of top 5 picks in my opinion his career is what is expected from a top 5 but protect the pick should be in order

I get that Grier hasn’t exactly been that good of a GM thus far, but there is no chance he is dumb enough to do that trade. ADB is severely missing playing alongside Kane, and he doesn’t want to be in Ottawa. The only leverage Ottawa has is that he is a RFA, but him choosing that he doesn’t want to sign with Ottawa or an offer sheet removes all that leverage. Teams aren’t buying what Ottawa is trying to sell, and as it stands, Ottawa should consider themselves lucky to get anything close to a return investment.

Grier hasn't? That's news to me. Look at our prospect pool 1 year ago and and compare it to today. Hell don't even include this year's draft and its still miles better. Grier inherited a bad situation and is doing a solid job turning it around, but it will take time.
