Why is Murray on LTIR when they said he was close to being ready in playoffs? And why is domi signing that deal? Maybe he wants to play there but he’s not taking a massive haircut to.

Logic would totally agree with you. I also tend to believe that kypreos is not very sharp. But man do I hope he's right here 😲

(But yes it makes absolutely no sense for Domi to sign that)

Just started seeing it after I commented so I’ll take that part back. Agree with you tho, his agent bungled this if that’s what he’s signing. Maybe playing where his dad did was important and he thinks he’ll put big numbers up and get a bigger deal when cap rises?

Still the Murray point has to be ironed out. Have to dump him I’d assume.

Only way I see it flying is if it's pure cap circumvention with a 4.5*5 or something being signed on Jan 2. Otherwise noooo idea.

This is such a dumb report and taken out of context by fans so fast… read the tweet. It literally says “Toronto would like a 1 year deal in the $2.5m ballpark”… nothing about the tweet says anything is close or even in progress. Just that Toronto has interest if he’s cheap.. which is obvious. Kypreos is an idiot.

Ok… ok…
I agree Kyper is a goof who doesn’t know what he’s talking about half the time, but I didn’t get that contract from Kyper, which makes me trust it a little more.

Murray on LTIR because that’s been a rumour this off season, and I feel it’s a lot more likely to happen than giving up assets to offload the contract. What I could also see happening is Murray playing in the minors as the leafs third choice because I don’t have much faith in their other options there at the moment.

Do I think this is all ridiculous? Yes, but at the same time it’s funny and I’ll be waiting for the inevitable Nylander trade that will break my spirit because the return will be a bag of pucks

CJ came out with Domi in the 1x$3m range, so cap space still works

I saw that tweet too. I wonder if it doesn't go through until the Leafs make another move. Or if Sammy remains unsigned until another move

Elliot mentioned something about Domi being out of the country as a factor, but it could be done as early as tomorrow

My guess is the cap is also a thing. I'm curious to see how it plays out

Although you could be right about the delay to sign Sammy, I just think that’s less likely of a reason. In my mind I want to get Domi done to make sure he doesn’t back out as a UFA (which is entirely up to him). Sammy as an RFA in my mind allows the Leafs to delay signing him until a trade or some other work around gets done

Oh I agree. Sammy can stay status quo. It's annoying for both sides but they can kind of leave him there with a pencilled agreement for a couple months
