Off top I'm noting that this WILL NOT HAPPEN because GMs are cowards and who knows if Miller would even sign an offer sheet. But if I was running a younger team, coming out of a rebuild, with cap space and draft capital I would 100% offer sheet Miller. The Yotes as it stands are going to be better this year, competitive but not a playoff team. The forward group is much improved with Zucker, Kerfoot and another year of growth from Maccelli and Hayton. The big weakness on the team is a top pairing defenseman, which is exactly what Miller is. Is 8 mil per a little rich for him, sure, but it's not that far off. The Rags have just 6 mil is space and Laf to also sign. In theory they could match this (since you can be 10% over the cap in the offseason) but would put them in position of having to move out a lot of money and the league would have them over a barrel so you're moving of Goodrow and Lindgren for nothing. With Miller, could this Yotes team be the second wild card? Maybe! Especially if Guenther pops even more as a rookie too. I think you're Arizona with Miller you think you could maybe be a playoff team, it's not like you're trading away the #1 or #2 overall pick. I think it just makes sense.
