I agree, that would be the bones. I think the thing that's tough with the Canes is that any 1st rounder is likely gonna be in the back of the 1st round like (26-32 range) just because of how good they are, so maybe you have to up the prospect or add another prospect to compensate for that. Drury is a top 5 prospect from the Canes system so he's definitely a real piece and I as a Yotes fan would understand that Morrow and Nikishin are too rich for Schmaltz. So maybe it's 23 1st, Drury and then any of Blake/Gunler/Honka

ASAP? He has two more year's after this at the same 4.6 number? Coyotes have no rush to move him at all. The price is the price because he's a true top pair defenseman. The proposed trade probably gets close because of Savoie and the 2024 1st but the rest is a bunch of junk. Jokiharju is a useful player but he's not a needle mover in the trade and certainly doesn't meat "1st round value." Coyotes have been there a done that with Hinostroza (who just waived and unclaimed btw), the VGK 2nd rounder might as well be a 3rd considering how good they are. I understand Buffalo not wanting to give up their 23' 1st because they aren't a playoff lock, so I'm fine with that but you've gotta make up the value elsewhere.

I think a realistic Chychrun trade between these two teams is something like Buffalo gets Chychrun - Yotes get 2023 1st (top 5 protected that becomes 2025 unprotected 1st if the pick doesn't transfer), 2024 1st, Savoie OR the same picks with two of Ostlund/Rosen/Kulich as the prospects

This from Craig Morgan's recap of last night. For those who don't know Craig is the singular best source for Coyotes new and info. From Craig's piece,

"There was all sorts of chatter surrounding Chychrun early on Thursday, with multiple teams including Columbus, Vancouver and Ottawa reportedly in discussions with Armstrong. Per sources, the Coyotes actually had a deal in place to send Chychrun to an Eastern Conference team but it never reached fruition.

Although he has no trade protection, Chychrun has made it clear that he wants the chance to compete in the playoffs. None of the teams that were rumored to be in the mix for his services are a lock to do so, so with his options too limited to strike what he considers a fair deal, Armstrong has altered his stance on Chychrun.

“Jakob is going to come back and play for the Coyotes next season,” Armstrong said. “That’s our plan and we expect him to be a big part of our team.”

If you hear finality in that statement, you hear correctly. The Coyotes do not intend to trade Chychrun now, but you can bet that Armstrong and Chychrun will sit down for a long discussion on why the 23-year-old defenseman was unable to take another step forward in his development under coach André Tourigny while forwards Clayton Keller, Lawson Crouse, Nick Schmaltz and Barrett Hayton all did so.

Armstrong didn’t say much about Chychrun, but he made it clear that he expects him to regain the form that saw him score 30 goals in 119 games between the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons."

I think that's fair and I see your point, I just know the Yotes have been adverse to taking on any kind of term and would charge a premium for it. I also think the "getting to cap floor" argument is a red herring. The floor is going to be 61 mil and the Coyotes are already at 50 and that's without re-signing any of their own RFAs, plus there's so many other teams (EDM, FLA, Cal, Tampa, Philly, Vancouver) that are desperate to move out bad contracts, they won't have any problem getting paid well to take on money

I'm a Coyotes fan and I'll say that both Martino or Mascherin aren't without value. Martino is an interesting college player and Mascherin has been a good AHL player so this isn't trashing them, and Faksa himself isn't a bad player BUT those two and 4th I don't think is enough to take Faksa on only because he has 3 years of term left which is a lot to take on. Last year when the Coyotes took on Ladd, Stralman, Ghost Bear, Roussel, Beagle and Eriksson they all had either 1 or 2 years left.

I don't think the Coyotes wouldn't take Faksa but I think it would take either a higher pick (likely a 2nd) or a higher quality prospect like Damiani or Dellandrea.

So Faksa + 2nd for Future Considerations OR Faksa + Dellandrea for Future Considerations.

But the idea isn't bad at all
