EK to the canes hypothetical

Description

Just wanted to see how an EK trade could work out for the canes as a devils fan. Not too worried about the trade value although I assume the main pieces coming back could look this with the picks being conditional and whatnot. Reports are saying Sharks don't want to retain any more than 20-25% of EK's salary so I went with the best case scenario for the hurricanes and it would seem that even with 25% retention they would need to move more money than just Pesce to roster a 23 man team.

Canes are really scary. IMO this year is a must win for them before they start losing a bunch of players because almost everyone expires next year or the year after. They're best shot to win the cup is now so anything and everything should be on the table to make this team better.

I don't think Tarasenko is a good fit for their forechecking system so I think canes fans would prefer Karlsson over Tarasenko + TDA contingent on the price not being too high.

Canes are better with Tarasenko and Pesce than adding EK and losing Pesce, and having to essentially unsign Tarasenko. Besides, if the Canes need to move cap, Skjei would be moved well before Pesce.
