What is Calgary's Plan B to Savoie?

This doesn't make sense for Calgary. The Flames are trying to move pending UFAs, get younger, bigger and save cap space. Savoie is small and Calgary already has a lot of small skilled forwards / forward prospects. Calgary doesn't get any younger (Olafsson is actually 1 year older than Hanifin) bigger, grittier or save any appreciable amount of cap space and doesn't need either of those players.

I don't much like the Flames trading a 2nd and a 3rd.. however, small in stature as he may be, if Lindholm and Backlund move on, the Flames will be pretty thin at center both in the NHL and in their prospect pool. Ruzicka can play center, Zary is coming up, but after that it's Sharangovich (probably more a winger anyway), Klapka (maybe 4th liner?) Schwindt (who knows), Emilio Pettersson, maybe Jones.... they could probably use another center in their system as skilled as Savoie is!

But again, I don't like the addition of a 2nd and 3rd. Not saying it would be fair without them, only saying.

Sabres probably aren't trading for Hanifin at this point. They just signed two defensemen.
