That Nylander trade, yikes.

Not confident that the leafs would trade Nylander for those two alone, let alone with all of those other assets.

Keeping him for the season and trying to sign him until the final minute would be much better than trading him for that package.

Either take out the salary retention or add a 4th round pick, and the Canucks consider

True, but the last time you guys were in this position, Nylander didn't sign "at the last minute" -- he signed after Thanksgiving.

That could have technically, been the last minute due to his inflated prorated cap. Although, what I meant was they "try" to sign him even if they think he's headed to FA. Tolvanen looks like he could still libe up to his potential but he's not established still and I'm guessing the confidence he gained in SEA will disappear in TOR with the pressure of having to fill in for Nylander. On top of that the Leafs are giving up a good goalie prospect and a 2nd. I think renting Nylander would be better since they at least get a better chance to win the Cup.
