Didn’t say that
My future line up if everyone hits would be :
Hutson-Reinbacher
Guhle-Mailloux
Xhekaj-Barron
Harris/Engstrom rotating with Xhekaj

But I’m not trading Harris away until the others are proven

Good luck getting value for him in a trade at that point when he can't even make your lineup at age 25.

Harris is better than Xhekaj in his sleep, Xhekaj just bring something Harris can't (physicality)

You better trade Harris while he has value than wait him to get passed in the lineup. When he'll play 15 games a year, his value will drops. (Remember Victor Mete?)

Xhekaj can hold that 3rd pair spot until the others developp. And when Hutson or other will be closer, the 3rd pair spot playing limited minutes is good for development too.

Listen, if the game was purely about skill, I would agree with you. But it's not. Like it or not physical play and intimidation IS a part of what it takes to win in the playoffs. You need 5-6 hulking 6'2+ 210 lbs+ behemoths to make it through 4 series.

That's why Xhekaj is staying and Harris is on borrowed time.

They have Hutson coming up. He's the Caufield of the defense core. They need to showcase Harris this year and trade him ASAP.

I bet he gets PP time in the first half. That'll be the moment you know he is being fattened up to show at market.

I hope they play Harris on the PP this season and ship him at the TDL. His contract is awesome and he's RFA at the end of 2024. If he shows himself to be a 3 or 4 spot player, he's gonna bring in a hefty return.

my hottest summer take is that Mike Hoffman at $2.25M for one year is 100% worth a mid-round pick. He had a positive GSVA last year, was almost league average defensively, and scored at a 0.5 PPG pace while being the "swiss army knife" player for the Habs - he basically played on whatever line needed him. He had 875 minutes at 5v5 last year and didn't spend more than 189 of those with any one single linemate; and in fact had 6 separate forwards he shared at least 100 minutes with. Guy seemed to embrace his role last year as a veteran guiding a ton of young players along, and I think he'd be a solid TDL addition to a contender.

This is exactly why you need to watch games and not analytics, Hoffman is dog**** and I wouldn't take him for free on my team

Jonh, you gotta understand that I would take Xhekaj over Harris for the same reasons you mentionned. But me, I wouldn't trade him until the others outplay him
Both of you (Taz & Jonh) wanna cash in on Harris, but Harris doesn't bring something special to a team. He is just a 5'11'' solid all around LHD. Those dman doesn't carry a lot of value in the national hockey league. If we could get a package worth the value of a 1st round pick, then fair, we could move him. But if not, just keep him until he starts to get pushed out

But you can tell he is bad since every Habs fans are either trading him with assets, healthy scratch him or burying him in the minors lol
But realistically, if they can't move him, he will play top 9 minutes

to be fair, 75% of the posts in ACGM right now are moving a very good player (Nylander) to half the teams in the league, so I always take that kinda stuff with a grain of salt. always thought Habs fans moving on from him were more interested in getting guys like RHP more ice time instead of the 34 year old pending UFA.

Regardless, I agree with your last point, and it's probably the best course of action. Shine him up, get some GM convinced he's cheap offense at the deadline, and get back a midrounder for your troubles. Hell, Curtis Lazar got a 4th round pick at last year's deadline - anything is possible!

People want RHP to play in the top 9 but there's always injuries, he will get his turn. Right now, he is waiver exempt

If they play him on the PP this year and he delivers points similar to Sandin, why wouldn't he be worth what Sandin was worth?

I mean, sure... He totally fails the eye test though as others have mentioned more eloquently! He really gives up on plays. Like it makes you sad to watch. Just sees his man running away and he just skates for the bench.

Because Harris doesn't have the vision and the shot Sandin have
This is why he doesn't get PP time, his shot is too weak
Xhekaj has no vision but he has a heavy shot, it goes through traffic as well, this is why Arber is on the PP

He has better vision than Sandin IMO, and he's got a good first pass and he's sneaky. I'm not saying he's an ideal PP player, but if they get him on the 2nd unit he could put up some points so we can flip him.

Kent Hughes : Hey Marty, put my boy Jordan Harris on the 2nd PP unit so he can bolster his points so I can trade him in a near future …

Look at this chart from Jfresh, this clearly shows that this guy is a stud, I don’t understand why you can’t see this..energy

Adding colour is one thing but thinking any winger especially one with warts this 'graphic' gets value after this offseason is some kind of dumb take.

Quoting: jonh514
I may not have "hockey knowledge", but I can certainly count, and this team has way too many defensemen who come in a better package than Harris to use him. Just because you have an asset, does not mean you need to hold it.

Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj are all ahead of him on the left not to mention Hutson, Engstrom & Struble coming up in a year or two.

On the right I expect as of 2024 we will have Reinbacher, Mailloux, Barron, Kovacevic, Savard

It's not that I think Harris is a bad hockey player, but you need to give something to get something like the Leafs did with Sandin and the Rangers did with Lundkvist.

Harris is a good player but he's a bit soft and has no shot at all. He's a poor man's Lundkvist I'd say. He's fine on the team now and why I have him in the next two years in the top4. Excellent puck mover and penalty killer. At that 1.4M AAV he should be able to garner some interest at the worst. Xhekaj should be dangled though as he's already beloved around the league and the Habs have a lot of size already on the backend now after Reinbacher, Guhle, Savard and Mailloux being close to ready.
