Lindholm would be good in the short term but I can’t see us giving him the Horvat or Dubois deals. Canes MO isn’t to move young cost controlled assets for very likely rentals.

I think because it was pretty public that he said he wasn’t extending in CGY (at least at first, I know they’re still putting full blitz on and not trying to trade right now).

Most of the rest of that list hasn’t leaked out or been reported that negotiations aren’t going well or player doesn’t want to sign there long term. A couple of guys (Nylander, Helley) there have been some reports in the vein of “negotiations not starting well” or “far apart for now”. Scheif has also been in the trade rumor mill bc it seems like they won’t be extending him.

We can doubt the reports or who they’re coming from, or chalk it up to negotiating tactics or whatever. Just going off of what’s been reported and speculated by “insiders”. I’m weary of a lot of stuff that comes out but it seems a bit silly to ignore all of it.

It’s true that Lindholm has NOT said he would not re-sign…as for sources, Seravalli guesses and hedges a lot using creative language, Friedman says things like “my feeling is that….” and people jump on it incorrectly….get the ACTUAL words, noting they are highly qualified statements by these insiders who just want to stay relevant and increase clicks, which increases advertising and thus their pay.
