DET LW : DeBrincat Rasmussen Kubalik Fabbri ... you gotta take Fabbri contract instead of Veleno

Ignoring the line configurations, there are some issues here.
Pinto would not sign that. Maybe you get a single "prove it" year at $2M, but even that is lowballing.
Zero chance Veleno would clear waivers.
And from what we've been told Forsberg will be ready to go for camp.

Is Detroit going to sign Veleno? Little bit of a coincidence that he isn't signed after this bonehead move at the worlds.

Cat played mostly RW last year with stutzle & tkachuck, but I don't disagree fabbri make more sense from the red wings side of things. I don't think Ottawa can take on that cap hit though

It's Berggren and the 1st. Maybe if OTT panics and agrees to take Veleno or Kubalik instead, but not Fabbri.
His cap hit would make it impossible to sign Tarasenko or Tatar, which seems to the plan.

I agree is low, only other option I see is drop the joseph contract to have more space. I don't think that's ideal either but they seem convinced on signing teresenko

This is a non issue. Absolutely stupid play? 100%. But I'd be willing to bet he was just horribly reckless at his attempt to use his feet to create space on the wall. It happens all the time when battling for a puck like that, but people usually don't start with their knee at 90 degrees so it never ends up with a stomp like his.

There's a 0% chance this is preventing any contracts. He's still owned by Detroit, so it's not a priority right now.

Trying to create space? Sure if he's trying to separate the guys foot from the rest of his leg.

Yzerman has qualified him, But with Yzerman being the head for Team Canada and Veleno pulling that bonehead move. I'd imagine he was pretty pissed over that.

Unless Lou Lamoriello makes a major move for DeBrincat, There's no way Pierre Dorion is getting a 1st round pick back. Detroit is still in a major rebuild mode. There's no way Yzerman gives up a 1st round pick for a player who absolutely wants to play for his childhood team.

I've seen the clip. Guy had 30 penalty minutes this season, he's not a dirty player. This wasn't malicious, it was reckless. I'll stand by that until he comes out and says he was trying to chop off a foot. It's absolutely a non issue in regards to his contract

I'm not going to debate you on Veleno's history as I haven't watched much, if any, of his games. Just seems like a coincidence to me given his most recent incident.

It's just a coincidence though. I mean Raffi Torres kept getting contracts right? Haha. Todd Bertuzzi got contracts after literally ending a guys career with a stupid move. I'm sure Yzerman sat him down and discussed it, but I doubt it plays a part in his contract.

No interest/need/space in either Fabbri or Veleno

So Berggren + BOS 1st

Not sure where you got your information but DeBrincat basically played 2.4% of his ES shifts with Tkachuk and Stutzle...

DET won’t take 8M in cap space without sending cap the other way
You gotta take Fabbri

Actually, if I was Dorion I would ask for Copp and Berggren

That trade would probably be completed as we speak, people would question my decision but then see the results on the ice next year. Hockey is not played on paper (ask the Rangers)

DeBrincat-Larkin-Raymond
Rasmussen-Compher-Sprong/Perron
Kubalik-Fabbri-Sprong/Perron
Kostin-Veleno-Fischer

Could make sense but I doubt they move Copp

Always depends on what you’re trying to do. If the Wings need a pure goal scorer/top liner, then they would be upgrading on Copp significantly. The cost to do that would be Berggren
