No way that we're trading McTavish, but I can see us trading Vatrano for Girard.

but the avs don't really gain what they need out of that trade what they can get in free agency imo. Vatrano is great but im not sure this trade would make them better either. There is no trade to be had here

Girard for vatrano+lundestrom might work, allows us to not have a 5m Dman on third pair

The opening we have on the left is for Drysdale partner. Gudas was brought into shelter the young LHD we've got coming up on that side. If we brought in Girard we'd have to run Fowler Drysdale as a top pair, and they get caved in when paired together.

Girard is good, and has value, but he's the wrong type of Dman for the Ducks to acquire.

Vatrano is an ok piece but not all that interested in another project player like Lundestrom. COL seem to be trading away any player they deem to be a project as of late (see Jost, Kaut and Newhook as recent examples).

Now, if Girard was traded 1 for 1with R. Strome, now we are talking.

I dont see the ducks targeting anther LD as well. I dont think this trade makes sense for either side.

Girard is gonna get 4th most minutes, i actually have no problem with him or his contract for that. The Avs don’t deploy defenseman based on their hands that much, and a Byram/Girard pairing had chemistry and success last season
