Two-way doesn't mean what you think it means. It has nothing to do with having to clear waivers to be sent down. The only thing it means is that you make less money if you play outside of the NHL.

Neither ****emo nor Madden (nor Thomas) are waiver exempt any longer. They'd all have to clear waivers before they're sent down.

Kaliyev only has 14 NHL games remaining before his waiver exemption expires. Byfield has 53 left. Barring injury, both guys will lose their exemptions this season.

Ah. Figured it was too good to be true. Madden won't get picked up as teams will be looking for size on their bottom-6. Hoping ****emo clears though.

Wonder if they really are willing to go on the road with 6-D, I know they don't have any back to backs until December, but still that's going to be rough.

That's the main question. They specifically signed Englund to a "poison pill" contract (more than league minimum for 2 years) so that he would clear waivers. No one is going to want that contract. However, it can be entirely buried in the AHL, so I'm pretty sure that's the plan with him. Whomever of Spence or Clarke doesn't make the team is going to play in the AHL as well, as they need both of those guys to play games. I suspect we'll see them rotate in and out of the roster during homestands.

So the question is do they try and send JAD down through waivers (I don't think Lewis is going to the AHL) in favor of a 7th defenseman (Moverare?), or do they run with 6 defensemen and keep the extra forward on the roster.

Unless they have a completely unexpected training camp, I don't think there's a way that any of ****emo, Madden, or Thomas make the team on opening night.

You cannot tell me that this team is better than it would have been with Gabe Vilardi, Alex Iafallo and Sean Durzi.

The only thing that will mollify me is if Vladi Gavrikov wins the Norris Trophy.
