The firsts are nice, but not nice enough for Winnipeg to take back all that old deadweight and a cap dump.

They’re overpaid players but they’re solid nhl players that can take you on a playoff run. We saw that last year. Its not like you’re expecting to be contenders next year, are you?

Are you serious? You are telling me Muzzin, Murray and Brodie are solid players? Muzzin may never play again, Murray is straight up garbage, and Brodie is at best a 5-6 Dman at this stage of his career. The 1st are not even that good because they will be 28 and up picks.

Sorry, I try to be respectful of everyone's posts, but trying to defend this is just wrong man.

No, but it makes no sense to trade good players for a couple of mid to late firsts, with one being 3 drafts away and some rentals and a cap dump, when they aren't contending. Especially when the Jets can get young prospects or roster players with team control instead.

I think TO would need to give up all those draft picks simply to convince someone to take Murray and Muzzin alone which then leaves Samsonov and Brodie for Demelo and Hellebuyck?

Bottom pair dman is still a solid nhl player like i said and I’d argue he’d be in a lot of teams top 4. Muzzin being an exception but he’s LTIR so its not technically a cap dump its more just a commitment to go Into the season under the cap by 5m. And then Murray had over a 900 save pct last year, which proves he can play. Murray and Brodie probably deserve 2m each? And that’s conservative for brodie tbh. All of these dman who are deployed defensively and get poor corsi because of it are always labelled overpaid. Brodies definitely better than justin holl but look what he was just signed for

Wouldnt get your hopes up on young players with team control. Only like 30% of the back half of the first round picks play over 100 games so if you’ve got a good RFA you’re getting a haul for him. Look at the toffoli trade. That being said, I could see lilegren being in this kind of deal
